Will Kanye West Win Kim Kardashian Back?

The saga of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian seems pretty closed on her end. The millionaire mom has been seen spending time with Pete Davidson, even making jokes about her ex-husband during her Saturday Night Live hosting debut earlier this year. However, if we’re going by Kanye West’s account, he seems to be in the fight of his life to win Kim back. Last night, the eccentric hip-hop star put on a show in Los Angeles where the subtext was less than subtle. West wants his wife back and could be gearing up for a length fight to regain her love. Does it seem possible?

West and Kardashian seemed like a match made in tabloid heaven. The over-exposed pair share a lust for fashion and paparazzi, and throughout their relationship, proved to compliment each other incredibly well. West and Kardashian met on the set of Brandy’s “Talk About Our Love” way back in 2004. At the time, West was a feature on the song while Kim was there as Brandy’s stylist and Ray J’s girlfriend.

The two would cross paths for the next several years, with West eventually admitting that his verse on Keri Hilson’s single “Knock You Down” was inspired by the future, Mrs. West. “You was always the cheerleading of my dreams/that seemed to only date the head of football teams,” he lamented on the 2009 release. The stars would eventually align for Kim and Kanye, and they would finally become official, ultimately tying the knot in 2014. They share four kids (Saint, North, Chicago, and Psalm).

Trouble began to become apparent as Kim and Kanye started to reveal their completely opposite political stances in the media. Kim has been historical liberal and been working hard to create reforms in the prison system, while West has championed Trump and the republican party. Some point to Kim Kardashian’s meeting with rapper Meek Mill last year that started the couples spiral. Kanye was publicly very upset about Kim and Meek’s “private hotel meeting” and expressed feeling that it was inappropriate and disrespectful. The “All Falls Down” rapper tweeted last summer, “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf for ‘prison reform.'” He elaborated, “Meek is my man and was respectful. That’s my dog. Kim was out of line.”

This forced Kim to release a statement about West’s mental health. “As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health,” she wrote on her Instagram.

Kanye’s eventually bid for president probably did not help, and in February of this year, Kim officially filed for divorce. The time since has been a little confusing to follow. First, West dropped his album Donda with several featured references to his wife and their relationship in the not-most positive light. Despite this, Kardashian still showed up to his various listening parties this year, even participating in his Chicago show.

Kim then went on to host SNL, where she still referred to Kanye as her ex-husband, saying that despite him being wealthy and successful and talented, his “personality” ruined things for her. West was unhappy about this and venting during his appearance on Drink Champs last month. “SNL making my wife say ‘I divorced him’ on TV because they just wanted to get that bar off, and I never have seen the papers. We’re not even divorced.” He followed this up with a “Thanksgiving Prayer” released on the holiday, where he prayed for his family back and admitted to many of his shortcomings. Shortly after her SNL stint, Kim began popping up with show cast member Pete Davidson, signaling that she may have finally moved on. Friends have said the new love has been positive for Kim and a step in the right direction.

Last night during his show with Drake in Los Angeles, West publicly called out his wife and asked her to take him back. During their Free Larry Hoover event, which was live-streamed on Amazon, West asked Kim to “run back” to him. “I need you to run right back to me,” West sang. “More specifically, Kimberly.” Kim does not seem to want the same because not even 24hrs since the show, she has reportedly filed to be single legally and drop the West from her name. With this type of move, it seems super unlikely that she will want to get back with her ex-husband.
