R&B Sammie’s Mother Denied Bond Following First Hearing

R&B singer Sammie is currently trying to support his mother through some legal issues. Angila Baxter, 56, has been in custody since January after taking the life of a mother of four. It appears she will stay there after being denied bond. Baxter is responsible for the passing of Nekaybaw Collier.

Nekaybaw Collier was hit during a senseless episode by Baxter where she went on a rampage after believing that someone was following her. The incident took place in Orange Country, Florida. Sammie has opened up about having “mommy issues” in the past and says that his mother was a harsh parent during his upbringing. Baxter’s neighbors also corroborated these stories, with one alleging they had to install security cameras after having issues with Baxter in the past. Despite their experience with her, they admit they were surprised to learn about this latest situation.

Sammie took to social media to address fans, letting them know that he did not have much information on what happened and could not say too much. “In consideration of the recent news, I would first like to express my most sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Collier,” Sammie said in a statement on his page. “I understand the severity of the allegations, but I do not have any additional information,” he confessed. “At this time, I respectfully request privacy for not only my family but the family of Mrs. Collier. Thank you. – Sammie,” he concluded.

When Baxter was taken into custody, she admitted to the letting off rounds, but claimed she believed someone was following her. Baxter unfortunately struck at least three people during her paranoid outburst. People near the scene admitted to seeing a woman in a red SUV shooting and driving crazy. Nekaybaw Collier, had just gone to the store to grab food for her two children. According to her obituary, she was only 28 years old.

The New Jersey native moved to Orlando, Florida, and met her husband, Kevin, whom she had been married too for eight years. Her two daughters’ names were Aoki and Alani. It also revealed “she enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family, as well as cooking. She took pleasure in learning new languages and studying in business analysis.” She reportedly had plans to visit Paris for her 30th birthday. It also said, “Nekaybaw was never scared to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. She had very strong values and was well-loved by everyone, mostly due to her positive energy,” they continued in her dedication.

Angila Baxter is still being held in Orange County Jail, where she has been denied bond. They obtained a risk protection order to ensure she had no further access to any weapons. While news outlets have reached out to Sammie for more info, the singer has instead been focused on touring. The 106 & Park vet has formed an R&B supergroup with Ray J, Pleasure P, and Bobby Valentino called RSVP. They have been doing tour stops around the country, much to the joy of fans.
