Ray J is on a mission to clear his name. As many know, the younger sibling to R&B singer Brandy was once romantically linked to Kim Kardashian. During their relationship, the two engaged in an adult tape that was widely released. Some contend that had it not been for this tape, the Kardashian reign would not have been as prominent as it is today. And now, a resurfaced interview with Sonja Norwood shows that a mother’s love is more vital than anything.
Ever since the tape’s release, many have seemingly portrayed Ray J as the story’s villain. This is also something that he’s recently argued, as the Kardashians have not done much to dispel these arguments. For Ray J, the “One Wish” singer feels as though they have used their platform to only heighten those theories that he’s had something to do with the tape’s release.
Recently, Ray J took to social media to unleash a war against Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner. He brought forward proof such as alleged contracts, text messages, and DMs showing communication between the two in an attempt to show his side of the story. In the midst of the drama that’s currently going on between all parties, fans have dug up an old interview with the Norwood family on the Wendy Williams show in 2010. During the interview, Sonja Norwood, who has served as her children’s longtime manager, expressed her wishes for the drama to blow over. “At some point, we’re going to get beyond this, hopefully,” she said.
However, she revealed her disposition as a mother. Sonja Norwood explained that she was “very upset” over the adult tape, although she witnessed the love they shared for five years. “What you don’t want people to see, you don’t do,” Norwood said. But Sonja argues that despite everyone trying to place blame on her son, he didn’t appear in Playgirl like Kim Kardashian did for Playboy. She also expressed that the vitriol and criticism should be directed toward the Kardashians, not Ray J.
To Sonja Norwood’s point, Kim Kardashian has done much in adult spaces. Besides posing for Playboy, she also broke the Internet for her Paper magazine shoot. In addition, her family built an empire off the adult tape with their reality show and many more business ventures.
