Back in 2020, a newly married Nicki Minaj went back to her home country of Trinidad and Tobago to visit St. Jude’s Home for Girls. While there, Minaj served up some major inspiration and dropped some coin on the home as well, pleading $25k to help the young women. Minaj thanked St. Jude’s for their commitment to the young ladies housed there. “I wanna thank you for your work with the girls. I wanna thank you for giving them hope and inspiration, and they’ve even given me hope and inspiration being here today. And I wanna donate $25,000 to help the girls.”
Minaj said the trip there was for inspiration and she felt compelled to give back in other ways, too, vowing to build a recreational center for the youth. Back in 2018, Cosby Show actor Geoffrey Owens was seen working a regular job after residual checks from the show stopped due to Bill Cosby’s legal issues. Many swooped in to help him, including Tyler Perry, who offered him a role on a show. Nicki Minaj also gave Mr. Owens a hand, gifting him $25k to get back on his feet. Nicki hated the fact that someone recorded him in hopes of humiliating him. “Some people are on the internet and seeking attention, and he’s just the antithesis of that. So I felt like, ‘Oh my God, could you imagine?'” She also had her team reach out to him in hopes that he took her help with love and did not receive it the wrong way.
Nicki has remained a constant in her old neighborhoods, always returning and giving back what she can. The Queens native went back home in 2018 to donate some turkeys for thanksgiving. Fans lined up for blocks, and videos went viral of them interacting with Nicki and singing her praises. She posed for photos with several people, including the Police Commissioner. A young woman went viral after expressing regret for having twins without the funds to provide for them. The tearful mother held her baby to her chest while she told her followers that she needed a “do-over” and was so embarrassed by her circumstances. “My babies don’t deserve this” the single mother shared, while also claiming she ready to give up and disappear all together. Viewers sent the woman words of encouragement.
Nicki swooped into the comments asking how she could help. The young lady asked Minaj to help her with childcare costs so that she could get back to work and provide for her kids. Many applauded the young woman for her honesty and Minaj for her desire to help. n”That fact that she wants to provide and work for her twins even after Nicki reached out definitely says a lot,” responded one person.
It is confirmed that the young woman was able to find work.
