Drake and 21 Savage have undoubtedly arrested the attention of their fans and music lovers with the recent release of their joint album Her Loss. Already receiving rave reviews and hailed as one of the year’s better projects, the album has also housed a ton of controversy.
On the album, Drake took aim at many celebrity peers from Kanye West to newcomers like Ice Spice. But one line on the album has many believing he took aim at Megan Thee Stallion, and they aren’t happy with it. One such individual includes Dr. Miami, who clarified where his loyalty lies. Her Loss follows the release of Drake’s most recent album, Honestly, Nevermind. The album was released as more of a surprise drop to fans on June 17th and housed 14 tracks, 13 of which leaned towards Dance and House genres. However, the last song on the album was the more Hip-Hop tinged “Jimmy Cooks,” featuring 21 Savage. The song would serve as a precursor for what was to come.
Her Loss also follows the release of 21 Savage’s most recent project, Savage Mode II. This, too, was a collaborative album alongside multi-platinum producer Metro Boomin and was released in the fall of 2020. The London-born rapper’s last solo project was the 2018 released album I Am > I Was. Then, on October 23rd, both artists unleashed the music video for “Jimmy Cooks,” which contained an unexpected announcement of their joint album. Initially slated to be released that Friday, October 28th, it was pushed to the following week because producer Noah “40” Shebib became infected with COVID-19, thus delaying the final stages of the album’s process.
No singles preceded the 16-track set, but Drake and 21 Savage took fans on a journey of fake promo for Her Loss. In addition, Travis Scott appears on the song “P***y & Millions,” while Birdman, Lil Yachty, and Young Nudy provide additional vocals on other songs. But much of the conversation surrounding the album’s release is due to some inflammatory bars aimed at various celebrities. For example, Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, were mentioned in the song “Middle of the Ocean.” This caused Ohanian to respond on social media in defense of his family. Also hit by some bars was newcomer rapper Ice Spice, known for her single “Munch.” In addition, “Broccoli” rapper DRAM was also hit with a mention on the same song, “Backoutsideboyz.” Kanye West, with whom Drake has held a longtime feud, got hit with a bit of truth with the Toronto rapper’s admission on the song “Circo Loco.”
In the song, he shares that he only participated in the 2021 “Free Larry Hoover” concert event for J. Prince. However, the song housed a line many speculate was aimed at Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston rapper also addressed her name being mentioned on social media, sharing that she was none too happy. In addition to Megan Thee Stallion and many other fans who were upset at the disrespectful bar is Dr. Miami. The prominent plastic surgeon uploaded a social media video revealing his alliance with the Houston rapper, stating that he was a “Hottie before I am a surgeon.” Check out his response below, which also takes a hit at Drake for his own alleged plastic surgery.
Rumors of Drake going under the knife to receive liposuction began back in 2016 when the rapper shared a shirtless photo with a visible six pack. Lipo is seemingly becoming popular amongst celebrity men. Other celebs accused of receiving lipo include Kanye West and Funkmaster Flex.
