Gift-giving is a high art form when it comes to our favorite celebrities. Everyone is in a race to one-up each other, trying to deliver the most lavish or meaningful gift possible. Super producer Hitmaka just splurged on his friend and collaborator Tink in a big way for her birthday. Let’s take a look at her gift and what she had to say to her hitmaking pal.
Tink is a beloved artist in the industry. She has found herself on the receiving end of praise from some of the biggest and best, oftentimes serving as their muse or protege. The Chicago musician came into the game with a pretty high co-sign thanks to being featured on XXL’s freshman class of 2015. Despite this honor, Tink is not just a rapper but a well-loved vocalist as well, getting her start in church.
Around the time of her XXL feature, she was also signed to Timbaland. She had caught his attention due to her multiple mixtapes and growing buzz. Timbaland would help create ample hype around Tink, even comparing her to Aaliyah and sample her hit “One in a Million” for a song called “Million.” Eventually, Tim decided to stall her debut album, and it never saw the light of day. This would derail Tink’s career for a while.
In the time since, Tink has maintained a low profile but has remained consistent amongst her fan base with a series of well-received singles and projects, including 2020’s A Gift and a Curse. Hitmaka, aka the artist formally known as Yung Berg, is the go-to guy when it comes to a smash. He has a proven track record with the likes of Jeremiah, Tinashe, Chris Brown, and Yung Bleu, to name a few. As her latest mentor, Hitmaka is eager to prove he is nothing like Timbaland and really wants Tink to succeed. As a sign of his faith in her, he’s paid off her bills for the year so she can move to Los Angeles and pursue her career full force.
Taking to his IG, he shouts out his collaborator calling her his Twin. “HBD Twin, I Love U,” he tells Tink. He goes on to express his excitement for the world to hear their new music. “Done bought u diamonds already so the best gift I could think of was to pay ya bills for a year so you can move to LA & take advantage of every opportunity god got coming ya way. I ain’t gone be selfish for 2 long cause the world need ya energy.” The post features an image of them sitting on set; Hitmaka is smiling at his phone while Tink looks off in a big blue robe.
She jumped into the comments to thank him, saying, “😢😢 Twinnn .!!! Thank you love … Best birthday fr 🏆🏆🏆.” Over on her own page, Tink thanked everyone for the birthday love with a stunning photo of her by the water. She captioned it “Birthday Lady 😍😍 feeling BLESSED !! Thank you, everyone, for the wishes and LOVE 🎈🎈 I’m Beyond grateful #27 🎉.”
