Porsha Williams is a newly married woman and already has to show up for her husband in a big way. She took to social media to reveal that her mother-in-law passed away recently. The new couple is coming together to support one another through this trying time, which will certainly bring them closer.
Back in May of 2021, Porsha Williams announced that she was engaged to Simon Guobadia. Simon was previously married to one of her Real Housewives of Atlanta co-stars, Falynn Guobadia. The pair met while recording a scene in Falynn and Simon’s home and began dating shortly after he and Falynn separated. They took to social media to announce their engagement with a massive emerald-cut ring. The pair said they “checked all of each other’s boxes and then some” in the caption of their announcement. Porsha also revealed that their wedding date was already set, and the happy couple was prepping for their lives together.
They went on to throw a lavish ceremony in November. The traditional African-style wedding included hundreds of their family and friends across two events. At the time, Porsha told PEOPLE, “I am ridiculously excited,” ahead of the nuptials. “I am just so ready. I’m not even nervous. I know I’m marrying the love of my life, and it’s going to solidify our relationship and our family bond. I’m calm and excited.”
Their blended family includes Simon’s five children from previous relationships: Quentin, Nicole, Christian, Benjamin, and Ximena. Porsha has one daughter, Pilar Jhena McKinley, whom she shares with Dennis McKinley. This also included extended family, like Porsha’s mother Diane T. Williams, and Simon’s mom Mrs. Martina Guobadia.
Porsha took to social media to reveal that Mrs. Martina had transitioned after a lengthy battle with dementia. “My heart is with my love today after the passing of his mummy Mrs. Martina Guobadia,” she said in the caption. “His mother suffered from dementia, but the past couple times, including the time I was able to meet her, she was in good spirits and aware,” she revealed. Porsha thanked God for the chance to spend time with Martina while she was still alive.
Porsha went on to say, “She was a warm and kind and very loving mother. Gone from this earth, yet she will never be forgotten. Thank you all for the love and prayers that you have sent to the Guobadia family at this time. ❤️🙏🏾 May her soul rest in peace.”
Fans in the comments supported the newlyweds as they grappled with the loss. Viola Davis said, “So sorry. I’m sending an abundance of prayers to you❤️,” and Karen Hugar said, “Sincere condolences from our home to yours❤️.” Martina passed just shy of her 81st birthday on January 25th. Porsha wished her a happy birthday last year with the same photo saying, “My future Mother-in-law, you’ve made your son an ideal man, and I’m so blessed to have him as my soulmate.”
It is unclear if Martina was able to attend the couple’s weddings in November. Our prayers to the Goubadia family.
