Megan Thee Stallion continues her soft relaunch following a brief sabbatical earlier this year. The Hot Girl coach stepped away from the spotlight following Tory Lanez’s trial. The case obviously did a number on her, and many expressed their concerns for her well-being after months of being taunted online and criticized by her industry peers. Well, Meg took a well-needed break, but she’s finally opening up about the experience in a new interview.
Meg graces the cover of Elle Magazine, where she discusses how people tried to turn her trauma into punchlines. While most people were “upset” at Megan for not admitting to a romantic relationship with Tory Lanez, Meg reminds everyone that she could have easily not survived that evening. “I could have lost my life. Instead of condemning any form of violence against a woman, [peers in the music industry] tried to justify my attacker’s actions.”
Megan says that all of the rumors and lies could have easily broken her; however, she persevered. One of the biggest rumors was that she was never actually shot or that it was her former best friend who pulled the trigger. Eventually, the case did reveal that Tory was the gunman and had intentions of causing harm to Megan.
Now that the incident is behind her, the “Body” rapper says she is looking forward to releasing new music and reclaiming her legacy. “I have been so transformed,” she told Elle. “I’m playing around with new songs and new sounds that I can’t wait for everyone to hear.”
