Fans Want To See Mo’Nique Become Monet’s Mother On 50 Cent’s Power

Comedian Mo’Nique is here to prove she’s got the ‘power’ and that you can’t keep a good woman down. Despite having her hand in current drama with Netflix, the famed actress has been keeping herself busy. After winning an Oscar, Mo’Nique claims she has been blackballed from the industry. But it seems that her career has been picking up steam as of late. Now, it’s looking like 50 Cent has come forward, ready to offer her a role on one of his ‘power universe’ shows.

NAACP Image Award-winner Mo’Nique was recently announced as a partner with production company Endemol Shine North America. The production company is responsible for progamming such as CBS’s “Big Brother,” the “Masterchef” franchise, both the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and “Real Housewives of Potomac,” as well as “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” among others.

According to Deadline, Mo’Nique and her husband/manager, Sidney Hicks, will operate along with their production company “Hicks Media” to produce content for her to either host or star in. The content will also incorporate other entertainers to star in.

President and CEO of Endemol Shine Holdings Cris Abrego spoke highly of Mo’Nique and the deal they have set in place. The two already had a working history stemming from their work on VH1’s Charm School, and Abrego stated that he was excited to rekindle their relationship, calling it an “honor.” In addition, he labeled Mo’Nique an “icon” and couldn’t think of anyone more “relevant and whose authentic voice should be heard right now more than hers.”

Mo’Nique has also been embroiled in a discrimination lawsuit with Netflix since 2019. In 2020, the streaming giant attempted to countersue and block her from her suit. However, a federal judge blocked their attempts and it is slated to proceed.

The Bessie star, for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award, appeared on the TS Madison show recently on Fox Soul. During their conversation, she spoke about her drama with Netflix and her issues with Tyler Perry. According to Mo’Nique, many attempts have been made to speak to the Madea star, who she claims did not want to “revisit” their controversy. Initially, Mo’Nique revealed that Tyler Perry felt he was wrong for his part in their problems. But he would later reach out through a mutual friend to require an apology from Mo’Nique for her claims that he, along with Oprah Winfrey, were responsible for ruining her career.

But Mo’Nique is taking a firm stance in her belief that she has been wronged. The comedian shared a portion of her with TS Madison on Instagram, directly addressing Tyler Perry. “Eventually the people will see, listen and do something about you not keeping your word. I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE,” she declared.

Judging from the news mentioned above that she has partnered with Endemol Shine North America and all of the upcoming things, Mo’Nique’s declaration is far from off. Live Nation has a few headlining shows listed nationwide for Mo’Nique, including an April Fools Day show in Staten Island and another in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mo’Nique was part of the All-Star Comedy Jam held during Super Bowl weekend along with fellow comedians Earthquake, DeRay Davis, and others. Among those that attended the concert was ‘Power’ executive and rapper 50 Cent, who was so blown away that he openly praised Mo’Nique for putting him in a “trance.” He further added that Mo’Nique should not be canceled as she is necessary for the culture. “I gotta get [Mo’Nique] back in pocket,” wrote 50 Cent, adding that he needs for her to “WIN again.”

Not only did 50 Cent send praises Mo’Nique’s way, but fans came in droves to agree with the Power executive producer. Fans immediately advised that he incorporate the comedian in one of the series following his suggestion. Some began to advocate for Mo’Nique to play the role of Monae’s mother in Power Ghost, who made her give Zeke up. Others suggested that she could play the sister to Monae, or even as an attorney. In particular, Mo’Nique playing an attorney on either of the current Power series’ could be very interesting as she would bring a different element like that of Method Man’s character.

Fans continue to throw their support in Mo’Nique’s direction for her to be cast in Power, Raising Kanan, BMF, or any of his other shows. However, 50 Cent’s ‘Power Universe’ future with Starz is unsure as he’s recently been threatening to leave as his deal is done with the network.
