Everything We Know About Jarrett Johnson, 24-Year-Old Who Was Found In Floyd Mayweather’s Condo – UPDATE

Floyd Mayweather and his family are in mourning following the disturbing passing of his girlfriend’s relative. As more information emerges about the young man, who was a promising young football star, fans are trying to piece together what might have happened to him and why he was in Mayweather’s condo at the time of his passing.

TMZ Sports reports that the man’s name was Jarrett Johnson, and he was 24 years old. Johnson was discovered by a friend on August 22nd around 4:30pm when a friend came to do a wellness check on him. He reportedly passed by hanging. Johnson was an all-conference quarterback in high school and the Southeast Missouri All-Region Athlete of the Year. He went on to play multiple positions at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.

Jarrett was not a confirmed resident of Mayweather’s Vegas condo but appeared to be good friends with the boxer, posting images with him over the years. He is related to Jamie Lynn, Floyd’s long-time girlfriend. Jamie and Floyd went public back in 2015. She began posting pictures of expensive jewelry purchased by the boxing legend and gradually started sharing vacation clips and pictures together as they became more and more official. Prior to dating, Jamie Lynn Floyd was connected to Doralie Bad Medina.

The Lindenwood Football Team posted a tribute to Jarrett on their Twitter account. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of former Lion Jarrett Johnson in this difficult time. Once a Lion, Always a Lion.” Fans in the comments shared memories with him, saying, “Jarrett was an incredible student for us, he was liked by everyone.” Another person said, “One of the blessings of my job is getting to know each player I’ve coached. I’ll never forget JJ’s smile and the love that was in his heart.”

Over on their site, Lindenwood shared his stats from 2019, where it’s clear Jarrett was a star athlete. Weighing in at 186 lbs, the 6’1 wide receiver came in with a great record from high school, where he was Conference Player of the Year and the team’s first all-district quarterback. While playing for them, he made 22 catches for 278 yards and two touchdowns, had one rush for one yard, hauled in a team-high six catches for 62 yards in the first game of the season, and had a touchdown catch against central Oklahoma. He played as a defensive back and quarterback during his freshman and sophomore years.

Jarrett’s family is facing their second major tragedy after he lost a sibling in 2019. His brother Justice Johnson, also a star football player, whose life was taken at the age of 19 in January of that year. He was attacked near a McDonald in Overland. Police at the time said that two former students from Kirkland High School were arrested in connection to the incident . At the time, it was suspected that he was the victim of a robbery gone south. According to reports, “Justice Johnson played on the varsity football team during his freshman and sophomore years at Festus High School. As a quarterback, he helped lead the team to the playoffs. He then transferred to Kirkwood High School at the beginning of his junior year in 2017-18 and played football for the Pioneers that season.” He had planned on joining the navy following high school.

Over on Twitter, fans pointed out that this is not Mayweather’s only tragic loss in recent years. “RIP to the young man Jarrett. Floyd Mayweather’s friends seem to keep [taking their own lives]. So weird. Condolences to the Johnson family. .” In 2020, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his three children passed of an accidental OD. She was 40 years old at the time and was found in her car. In 2014, Mayweather lost his friend Earl Hayes, who took his own life and his wife, Stephanie Moseley’s life too. Our condolences to Floyd during this challenging time and the latest loss.

Jarrett was honored on Sunday, September 4, at Cross Point Church in Festus, Missouri. His burial was held privately for family and friends.  His obituary gave new details on him and his family life. Jarrett was the son of Crystal (Brinkley) Martin and John J. Johnson. He is survived by his two brothers Cole Johnson and Jeriah Johnson; three sisters: Dejah Lanos, Leah Martin, and Jaida Johnson. A third brother, Justice Johnson, passed away in 2019 after being attacked, he was only 19. Police at the time said that two former students from Kirkland High School were taken into custody in connection to the incident. At the time, it was said to be a robbery gone wrong. There is still not a lot of information available as to why Jarrett took his life or if he left a note, but some believe that his brother’s passing deeply affected him as they were heavily influential in each other’s lives. His former football team honored him online, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of former Lion Jarrett Johnson in this difficult time. Once a Lion, Always a Lion.” 

Since the incident, Floyd Mayweather and Jamie Lynn have kept quiet. After browsing her social media account it appears, Jamie Lynn has not posted since May 19 which was nearly three months before the incident. Floyd Mayweather.
