Chrissy Teigen Reveals Sad Confession About Baby Jack, One Month After Announcing Baby Number Three

Chrissy Teigan and John Legend are very public about their family life and journey through parenthood. The A-list couple has centered their brand around their relationship and used it to build a media empire encompassing music, lifestyle brands, television, books, and more. The most public and transparent they’ve been was with the loss of what would have been their 3rd child in 2020. Now, after announcing Chrissy’s fourth pregnancy, they open up even more about what happened to their last baby, who everyone assumed was lost in a miscarriage.

Chrissy and John met in 2006 on the set of his music video for “Stereo.” By 2011 they were married, and by 2013 John had scored the biggest hit of his career, “All of Me,” dedicated to his new wife. The couple welcomed their first child together, Luna Simone Stephens, in 2016. Two years later, they had Miles Theodore Stephens in 2018. By 2020, Chrissy announced she was expecting their third child, another boy. Unfortunately, on September 29, 2020, they had a miscarriage due to complications. John and Chrissy had revealed they had named him Jack.

Chrissy and John decided to be very transparent with their loss and shared a series of black and white photos from the day baby Jack was born and lost. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough,” she said in the gut wrenching images of them crying and holding their baby boy. While some people criticized the pair for being so public about their ordeal, Chrissy explained that she received an outpouring of love from families who had experienced similar things. “I didn’t know that we could experience this grief and also share it, but when we did, it really meant so much to so many people, and it was such a powerful experience for me to learn that.”

The pair have gone to great lengths to keep baby Jack’s memory alive, dedicating several projects to him, including a cookbook, planting a tree of life in their backyard, and donating money to charity to help other families dealing with sick kids. On August 10, 2022, Chrissy and John told fans that they were pregnant again with baby number four. “The last few years have been a blur of emotions, to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again,” Chrissy said in a post revealing her new bump. Teigan has done IVF treatment for all her pregnancies and said this time around, it took over 100 shots in her leg for things to click.

For Teigan, the journey to baby number four has been all about healing and coming to terms with what happened with Jack. One of her most significant revelations is admitting that she had to terminate Jack to save her own life and that he was not a miscarriage, as initially reported. Chrissy says that when Roe V Wade was overturned, and she expressed sympathy to her husband for the women who had to end pregnancies, John made her realize that she, too, was one of those women. She clarified that it was “an abortion” meant to save her life. Baby Jack stood no chance at surviving, and the procedure was the solution chosen so that he would not suffer and Luna and Miles would not lose their mother.
Chrissy admits that she had not put this together till “a few months ago.” Chrissy says that she felt silly for not realizing what she had done and not being honest with the world from the beginning.
