There’s nothing like a good bromance, and DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God share just that. Almost every morning on The Breakfast Club, the two express their love for one another in some of the most awkward and flirtatious ways. But what if, “hypothetically, of course,” there was more to it than just a platonic bromance between the radio personalities? During one of the latest episodes, Charlamagne Tha God spoke on which role he’d play, describing himself as a “power top” in the relationship.
The Breakfast Club has been enjoying a successful run for over a decade. Co-hosts DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God have brought impeccable chemistry over the airwaves since December of 2010, collecting a bevy of supporters as a collective and individually. Some of the segments they bring that keep the cogs of the show seamlessly moving include “The Rumor Report,” “Front Page News,” the “People’s Choice Mix,” and “Donkey of the Day.”
Aside from achieving syndication in over 90 markets nationwide, The Breakfast Club also enjoyed a great run on television. Revolt began to air episodes of the NAACP Image Award-nominated radio series from 2014 until its end in 2021. However, fans are still able to not only listen to the show on radio stations in various U.S. markets but on YouTube as well. Breakfast Club listeners are acutely aware of the co-hosts’ chemistry they bring to the show. However, the relationship between Moncks Corner, South Carolina’s Charlamagne Tha God, and Queens’s DJ Envy have the people talking.
Fans have been given a keen glimpse at just how close the relationship is between those brothers. So close is their relationship that they often flirt with one another on-air, very unabashedly and unapologetically. Just how close, you may ask? For one, Charlamagne gifted DJ Envy a mold of his rear end on-air for the holidays. According to New York Times Bestselling author, DJ Envy’s constant flirting led him to believe he would appreciate that gesture. However, both Envy and Angela Yee expressed that the present felt “inappropriate” and also jokingly threatened to go to HR.
The antics between DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God have opened the door for many jokes that the two either are in a homosexual relationship or are attracted to one another. However, both parties are very married. Happily. But that hasn’t stopped DJ Envy’s wife, Gia Casey, from egging the behavior on and encouraging their relationship. In fact, Casey admitted while being a guest on The Breakfast Club that the constant flirting between her husband and Charlamagne Tha God “kinda turns [her] on.”
While Gia Casey did make that admission, she added that the two are both “strange” and “humorous.” In addition, Charlamagne Tha God explained that their behavior is nothing but “brotherly love.” The co-hosts also once detailed going through a revolving door together, a move that some feel to be reserved for those closer than usual. However, they claim that it was accidental. “All we did was giggle because it was so stupid,” recalled Charlamagne, adding they just had to “giggle [their] way through it.”
Recently, The Breakfast Club touched on a conversation between rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Yung Miami on her Caresha Please Podcast. During their chat, the rappers held a steamy discussion and spoke about who would “be on top” in an intimate affair between the two. The Breakfast Club‘s co-hosts touched on the discussion. Still, Charlamagne shared the difference between the relationship of the rappers and his with DJ Envy. “We don’t play about it. We just do it, right Envy?” said Charlamagne to his co-host, leaving him shocked.
Adding that they “don’t beat around the bush,” Charlamagne Tha God admits that he would be “Yung Miami” in the relationship as the “City Girls are [his] spirit animal.” However, DJ Envy debates that his co-hosts “dances more like Megan Thee Stallion.”As it pertained to the roles each would play in the bedroom, DJ Envy debates that Charlamagne would be “the bottom.” But Charlamagne insists that he would be not only the top in the relationship but “clearly a power top.”
