Kandi Burruss is the pen behind such hits as “Bills Bills Bills,” “No Scrubs,” and “There You Go.” With that kind of track record, she obviously knows a thing or two about relationships, especially break-ups. Who are some of her most famous past lovers? Let’s take a deep dive into the men of her life.
Kandi Burruss Is Married To Todd Tucker
Kandi Burruss is currently in the middle of her happily ever after. Kandi met Todd Tucker on the set of Real Housewives of Atlanta back in 2011 when they were filming in South Africa. Todd was a producer on the show, and he and Kandi caught each other’s attention. Todd said he knew he was taking a risk approaching Kandi because production is never supposed to date talent. He said he loved her smile and thought she had a nice butt.
The pair would wed in a lavish Coming to America-inspired wedding that was shown on their Bravo spin-off, Kandi’s Wedding. The two have continued to showcase their love for the world on RHOA, and their other affiliated showed. They are wonderful parents to their blended family, with features their children from other marriages and their own children, son Ace Wells Tucker and daughter Blaze Tucker.
Kandi and Ex-Friend, Block Welcomed Baby Daughter, Riley Burruss In 2002
Before having kids with Todd Tucker, Kandi was already a mother to her daughter Riley. Riley’s dad is a man named Russell “Block” Spencer. Block is the founder of Block Entertainment, a rap label based out of Atlanta. He is reportedly valued at about $10m. Block and Kandi met in the early ’90s as she was getting her career started with Xscape. While Kandi maintains that they had a relationship, Block says she was actually a side chick and well aware that he already had a family. Despite this, they welcomed Riley in 2002.
Block reportedly checked out of Riley’s life shortly after and spent years not contacting her. He would eventually mend things with her and even paid back the years of child support he owed Kandi right before Riley went to college. The pair seem to be on good terms now.
Kandi Burruss and Jermaine Dupri Made More Than Music Together
Kandi and Jermaine Dupri racked up hits together in the ’90s. The pair are both massive successes in music and had a great friendship as well. Eventually, Kandi says they decided to cross the line after months of flirting and sexual tension. She defends the decision as something young and harmless and that they really were just exploring their curiosity about one another. Kandi clarifies that she was not looking to gain anything from that connection and was simply having fun. “Let’s be realistic, it wasn’t me trying to get anything out of the situation. We already had hit records. We already had hits. It wasn’t like I was trying to do it to get somewhere. It was just out of curiosity.” The fling was rumored to be the cause for her group Xscape breaking up. Even more troubling are rumors online that she also had an affair with Jermaine’s father music executive Michael Mauldin.
Kandi and Brandon Casey Of Jagged Edge Dated Briefly
Brandon Casey is one of the lead singers of Jagged Edge. The famous vocalist and Kandi dated briefly at the height of both their groups. Kandi actually discovered Jagged Edge and helped manage them, making them household names. The two would eventually start dating and move in together. When things got too complicated, she decided to step back as their manager. Eventually, the relationship would end, and Brandon would go on to date LaTavia Robinson of Destiny’s Child. This became even more uncomfortable when Kandi was hired to write for Destiny’s Child and had to interact with Robinson. Casey would eventually reveal that both Kandi and Robinson were the inspirations behind two of Jagged Edge’s biggest hits, “I Gotta Be” and “Promise,” respectively.

Kandi Burruss Was In A Full-Blown Relationship With Gerald Levert
Real Housewives of Atlanta is currently in its 14th season. A preview dropped ahead of Sunday’s new episode where Kandi and the girls discuss the famous men of their past. While Drew Sidora dishes on a fling with a censored “NBA king,” Kandi reveals that she dated a king of R&B. Kandi says she was in a relationship with Gerald Levert for a bit. “I was in a whole blown relationship with Gerald Levert. The two even made music together, but the song is currently sitting on her hard drive. This is not a complete surprise to fans, as Tiny talked about this relationship during a segment of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen back in 2018. In a 2015 interview Kandi talked about it herself saying “[My daughter] Riley was 6 months old when I met Gerald and we started dating.” They would split a few months before his death in 2004.
Gerald, like Kandi, has many famous exes, including Kym Whitley, Miki Howard, and Mo’Nique.
