Alicia Keys Turned Down $9 Million For 9 Minutes Because She Was Spending Quality Time With Her Husband

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz are letting nothing come in the way of their family time. The two are indeed the definition of a power couple. Their relationship dynamic has proven to lead with light and love despite any form of criticism they may receive. Recently, they appeared on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game Podcast to speak on their legendary love story.

Alicia Keys had a trying start in the music industry before her triumphant breakthrough in 2001. However, once her debut single “Fallin'” was unleashed, Keys began on an upward trajectory toward outstanding success. What followed next was millions of singles and albums sold, along with multiple accolades.  In addition to her music and successful touring, Alicia Keys has made remarkable achievements in other areas of the entertainment industry. She co-starred in many films, including 2008’s  The Secret Life of Bees. Keys was honored with an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for the role. Alicia Keys has also become a brand ambassador for various companies and is involved with many projects. 

As for Swizz Beatz, he’s also amassed impressive accomplishments. He started his production career at a very young age, attaching himself to his longtime friend DMX and helping to craft worldwide and infectious anthems. In addition, he’s created hits for many others, from Beyonce to Eve, Jay-Z, and more.

Swizz Beatz has achieved much outside of the music space as well. He’s also done well in the fashion space, partnering with companies like Reebox. The Grammy Award-winning producer has also been endorsed by Monster Energy Drinks.  Then in 2020, Swizz Beatz partnered with fellow super-producer Timbaland to launch the popular competition series Verzuz. In 2021, it was reported that both producers sold Verzuz to Triller for an undisclosed amount.

While both Swizz Beatz and his wife Alicia Keys have impressive and extensive solo careers, they have also banded together in business. According to Afro Tech, the couple ventured into owning and operating The Dean Collection Music & Art Campus in upstate New York, which was first announced in 2019. They also additionally own several properties across the United States.

As for romance and family, this journey began in 2010 for Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys. That same year, their first child was born. Then, in 2014, the couple expanded their family and added another son to the mix.  It’s evident that both have to juggle hectic schedules. Rightfully so, they also claim an impressive check for appearances and other ventures. But the couple recently revealed that no amount of money or opportunity is more important than family.

Swizz Beatz explained on the podcast that he will not sacrifice his “integrity” for any amount of millions and that he’s turned down many opportunities because of this. He also spoke on the power and blessing of using the word “no.” Then, Swizz praised his wife for standing her ground and saying “no” often. However, he also detailed that she’s “probably turned down a [trillion dollars].”

Swizz Beatz also revealed that Alicia Keys once turned $9 million down for a 9-minute appearance. “It was integrity involved in it,” he explained. According to the producer, she turned it down because she was spending quality time with her husband. Her integrity helped him realize she’s “not for sale,” he said.
